• The book creates a history of curating through interviews of important art curators and writers of the 20th and 21st century. Hans Ulrich Obrist is a central figure in contemporary curating and here he proves his commitment to it with a series of references to important curating events of the past and current century.
  For someone with an interest in curating I can say this is a great book to start increasing your knowledge in the subject and because it is essentially composed of interviews it is very easy to read.
• I couldn't resist the title "Curatorspeak" for this review as in fact it is "curatorspeak" in the way that curators talk together. Well, Hans Ulrich Obrist have his model for interviewing people, a kind of laidback easy to read informal conversation. Most of the time it works great and the book gives great insight into the different curatorial approaches that his collegues and predecessors have towards exhibition-making. Sometimes, however, the informality of the conversation don't really give you a in depth-perpsective of what the curator he talks to actually thinks about exhibition-making. It could of course be that he doesn't have very deep thoughts on the subject, and maybe he is (bacause it is mainy men) more working from intuitien and tacit knowledge. However, all in all it is a great introduction to curators who have been signinficant contributors to the development of exhibition-making since WW2 and in that respect it fulfills the title "A brief history of curating".

• I am an Aromatherapy certification student and I purchased this book to help increase my knowledge of non-oil, herbal based remedies. I was disheartened to see unsafe recommendations for adding essential oils directly to bath salts, without any carrier oil or method to solubilize the oils. This was also true for an acne facial spray, which added essential oils to witch hazel and herbs - witch hazel does not provide proper dilution; and for room sprays which included only essential oils and water. A room spray must include either high-proof alcohol or polysorbate in order to prevent the oil floating on top of the water. It will also need alcohol or a preservative to avoid growing bacteria or mold - which begins immediately at the time of blending. I believe the herbal, non-oil recipes are sound, and she provides good guidelines for how to make tinctures, teas, and salves, but she loses credibility when she ventures into the essential oils. As I am not an herbalist, I honestly don't know if her herbal recipes are safe for certain.
• As an herbalist and holistic health advocate, I really like this book! It has fantastic recipes on herbal medicine, natural health, wellness, self-care and holistic healing. The layout is extremely clear, so you can find a recipe for your ailment quickly and easily. I'd prefer if there was a bit more depth of info on each recipe, but there is a larger quantity of remedies instead. This book empowers you to care for yourself and loved ones using natural, plant-based remedies. I make a lot of natural health supplement capsules, so I love that there are plenty of recipes here for them, as well as many other forms of natural medicine, including tinctures, tisanes, flower essence blends, aromatherapy blends, suppositories, fomentations, syrups, massage oils, poultices, lozenges, and more.
  
  Master Recipes is great for beginner healers and more advanced herbalists and naturopaths as well. It has an overview of important herbs to have on hand, as well as basic formulation methods. There is something for everyone here, with recipes for treating and preventing a very wide array of health concerns, from the everyday to the chronic. It's informative, easy to understand, and full of useful homemade remedies and anecdotes. JJ Pursell never disappoints with her knowledge, research and writing. This herbal recipe book is fantastic!
  
  (I'm disappointed that the book costs $4 less now than it did last month. I should've just waited instead of jumping to purchase it brand new.)
• Love this book. As a new user of herbs this book is clear and concise.
• Master Recipes from the Herbal Apothecary is a practical book for people who pursue health and wellness with herbs. I find the list of kitchen supplies needed to get started and the table with types of preparations, their uses and the dosage guidelines very helpful. The only thing that confuses me is the size of capsules the reader is supposed to use in capsule preparations. Other than that the book is very comprehensive. There are very good step-by-step photographs that show how make the different kinds of preparations. For each health concern you can choose between a couple of recipe alternatives, for example a tea, a tincture, or an essential oil blend. Overall, there is a broad variety of really good recipes in the book with herbal combinations I have not thought of before. The recipes are not only for different medical conditions, for example a cold, but also for the general well-being and emotional support, which in my opinion is as important for our health. The recipes that caught my eye for example are the Screen Time Relief Mask, The Get-Up and Go Tea , the No-Monsters-Allowed Spray, the Child-Calming Massage Oil, and the Happiness Balm, to mention just a few.
• I would like to thank Timber Press for providing me with a free – temporary – electronic ARC of this book, via Netgalley. Although I required their approval, the decision to read this book is my choice and any reviews given are obligation free.
  
  Regular readers of my reviews will know I am interested in herbalism. And, indeed this book had been on my radar for a while. ‘Master Recipes from the Herbal Apothecary’ is a highly detailed, well researched book on herbalism for health, beauty, and well-being.
  
  I do have some quibbles, but they are very minor, so feel I should get them out of the way first. Firstly, in the section where it lists all the most commonly “useful” herbs, I do wish it included where they grew/ the climate they preferred. As I know for a fact not all of them are going to be able to successfully all grow in the one backyard, as some were cold weather plants, some temperate, some tropical. So, actually stating this for all readers would have been good, as not everyone is going to have that plant knowledge. That way people would know their limits as to which plants they could grow themselves, based on their location, and which they will always need to source from shops.
  
  Also, in the recipe sections, a clear statement of when dried herbs vs fresh herbs were used in a recipe would have also been beneficial. Yes, some recipes actually ask for some herbs in powder form, so I knew that meant they were dried and, well, powdered. But in other cases it wasn’t stated as to whether the required amount was in dry or fresh herbs. I would have liked this for every recipe. Simply for the reasons I’ve given above. Not all the herbs can be fresh as no all grow in the same place.
  
  But, other than those tiny issues, this was still a fantastic book. So informative and extremely thorough on the areas covered. Men’s health, women’s health, children and infant’s health, animal health, and overall well-being. I loved the different sections and all they entailed. This is a very comprehensive book for any herbalist’s home.
  
  It’s not all recipes though, it is also the storage, preparation, conversions of metric to imperial… everything a home herbalist will require. Including that all important message that this book should only be referenced for minor ailments and that a holistic general practitioner should be seen for anything too serious or major. This is the best balance of herbalism – the ability to look after health, beauty and well-being for the whole family for all things every day and minor, but the knowledge that sometimes modern western medicine may be needed.
  
  Formatting and layout were up to the usual high standards I have come to expect from Timber Press.
  
  Would I recommend this book to others?
  
  Yes I would. For people interested in herbalism at beginner level through to the more experienced. I would mention my minor issues with it, but emphasise they do not ruin the book, but are simply things the reader and home healer must take into consideration when stocking their own apothecary’s pantry.
  
  Would I buy this book for myself?
  
  Yes I would. In paperback form, as I just prefer my recipe books in that form. But I can indeed see this book being squeezed into the ever diminishing spare shelving of my herbalism section of the bookshelves.
  
  In summary A very comprehensive and information book of herbalism.

"This review contains no spoilers except what anyone who’s already played the game would know.

I was absolutely blown away by the quality of this manga. Everything about it was fantastic, leaps and bounds above what I expected. I haven’t read any of the other Zelda manga in about six years, but from what I remember of them the skill of the storytelling in Twilight Princess is vastly superior to what came before it.

This first volume spends the majority of its time exploring Link’s peaceful everyday life in Ordon Village. This might sound boring, but it isn’t in the slightest. It’s absolutely delightful, adorable, hilarious, and serves its purpose in the story flawlessly: it builds your investment in Link and this life he’s come to love so much, and creates tension and dread for the foreshadowed day it will come crashing to an end.

Link, in this story, is not the silent protagonist you play as in the game. He’s a distinct character with his own personality and history. He’s glib and humorous, and at first seems shallow--asking about his pay and talking about how hungry he is. But in the first few pages of his interaction with Rusl, the village swordsman, you see a hint at serious thought and distant reflection. Unlike the game, where we assume Link has lived in Ordon Village all his life, here Link has only lived in the village for six months. He was quickly accepted by the village; he’s cheerful and cool, great at riding his horse and working at the ranch, and gets along well with all the children, each of whom idolize him. His interaction with the kids, and with Ilia the obvious love interest, is heartwarming and will make you laugh. But all throughout this happy time we keep getting hints that something deeper and potentially darker is going on with Link’s past. When Talo declares he’s going to go into the forest, which is exciting because it’s dark and dangerous, Link furiously yells at him with an anger none of the villagers had ever seen from him. And Colin was surprised when he discovered that Link had an extensive library, the largest collection of books in the village for sure, all about magic. When we eventually learn what this hidden past of his is, it’s emotionally potent and very satisfying.

The inciting incident comes about three quarters the way through the first volume, and mirrors the game: King Bulblin comes charging out of the forest on his giant boar, leading an army of monsters that attacks the village. That’s when you learn that, despite how cute and heartwarming the beginning of the story was, this manga is not afraid to be deadly serious as well. People die, and you see them die. Not as graphically as Berserk or Battle Angel Alita, nothing horrifyingly grotesque--but blunt, and open to see. One villager is stabbed through chest with a spear while his neck is bitten by the fangs of a bokoblin, Ilia is shot in the shoulder by an arrow, and Link’s arm is cleaved from his body by King Bulblin’s axe. The monsters are scary in this world, they present a deadly threat, and they are not to be taken lightly. The book ends at a natural stopping point in the story, when Link was transformed into a Wolf by being dragged into the Twilight and Imp-Midna looking on from a distance, saying how he would be useful to serve her.

I can’t overstate how happy and impressed I was with this manga. There are another two volumes in the Twilight Princess story, and I believe the third will be the conclusion of the trilogy. While all the other Zelda manga were, in my opinion, "cool if you're already a Zelda fan," Twilight Princess easily stands alone, worthy on its own merits whether you like Zelda or not. I am very eager to pick up the next chapter in this story, and highly recommend you do as well."

• If you don't like the idea of Link having a back story, of the plot diverging from the way it goes in the game, if you don't like a bit of artistic liberty, then this manga is not for you.
  
  I am so ecstatic that Akira finally got to do Twilight Princess in their style! And I just love all the extras that they included to flesh out the world of Twilight Princess. It's nothing like what I was expecting and I'm excited for that and for vol. 2.
  
  This is my first time owning one of the Zelda series that they have done and I have read most of the other ones. Really good work. But if you don't like divergence from the games, the manga aren't for you.

And Colin was surprised when he discovered that Link had an extensive library, the largest collection of books in the village for sure, all about magic. When we eventually learn what this hidden past of his is, it’s emotionally potent and very satisfying.
  
  The inciting incident comes about three quarters the way through the first volume, and mirrors the game King Bulblin comes charging out of the forest on his giant boar, leading an army of monsters that attacks the village. That’s when you learn that, despite how cute and heartwarming the beginning of the story was, this manga is not afraid to be deadly serious as well. People die, and you see them die. Not as graphically as Berserk or Battle Angel Alita, nothing horrifyingly grotesque--but blunt, and open to see. One villager is stabbed through chest with a spear while his neck is bitten by the fangs of a bokoblin, Ilia is shot in the shoulder by an arrow, and Link’s arm is cleaved from his body by King Bulblin’s axe. The monsters are scary in this world, they present a deadly threat, and they are not to be taken lightly. The book ends at a natural stopping point in the story, when Link was transformed into a Wolf by being dragged into the Twilight and Imp-Midna looking on from a distance, saying how he would be useful to serve her.
  
  I can’t overstate how happy and impressed I was with this manga. There are another two volumes in the Twilight Princess story, and I believe the third will be the conclusion of the trilogy. While all the other Zelda manga were, in my opinion, "cool if you're already a Zelda fan," Twilight Princess easily stands alone, worthy on its own merits whether you like Zelda or not. I am very eager to pick up the next chapter in this story, and highly recommend you do as well.

  - Some may not be so open to the inevitable story changes
  - The issue that most manga fans have, after you read the volume there is typically a long wait till volume 2 is released.
  - Text close to the seam of the book can be challenging to read.

  What is it
  To put simply, this is the Story of The Legend Of Zelda Twilight Princess in manga form. From what I can tell, the manga will follow the major events of the game while focusing on character development for both major and minor characters.
  
  Story 4
  Volume 1 covers the back story of what happened in the Twilight Realm before the events of the game. Then the story moves to Link (The main Protagonist) currently residing in the Ordon Village. Before the volume ends we get Link’s backstory and see the chaos before link gets dragged into the twilight realm for the first time.
  
  Art Style 4.5
  I find it hard to complain about the art style at all. If you have ever played the game before you will notice the art doesn’t stray far from the source. My main issue is some of the boxes are small and hard to tell what is going on, and or read the text.
  
  Replay 3.5
  While I do intend on reading this volume again before, volume 2 releases I don’t see myself reading too many times again in between that. Don’t get me wrong this is a great volume but, it like many other books / mangas are slow to start due to setting the atmosphere of the story.
  
  Value 4.5
  You can’t go wrong here, $10 for 5+ chapters of quality manga, this is a great value. Over time it may get a bit pricey due to the pacing appearing to be on the slower side but we’ll see.

  Thoughts
  Since the demise of both Naruto (Temporarily) and Bleach, manga has been sadly absent from my life. I do finger through other manga from time to time but nothing has had me hooked and anxiously awaiting the next release. This may have changed thanks to The Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess. As of right now it may be too early to call but I am excited for the next volume.

• Wow ! The art is as always amazing, the characters are lively, and damn is this story intense haha (especially for a Zelda story). The game was dark and this manga goes along with that well, that is what I will say without spilling any details. As always I love the artistic creativity taken by the authors, the world and characters are beautifully fleshed out and expanded upon. For all LoZ fans out there, I will of course highly recommend this. Looking forward to the next installments of this series ! (just to clear up for parents buying for younger kids and possibly reading this review, I did say the story was dark but I will not say that the book contains improper content. If they played the game they can handle this). Cheers !
